AB-620 skills outline: domains, weights and what to prioritize

The official AB-620 outline has three domains: plan and configure agent solutions (30–35%), integrate and extend agents (40–45%) and test and manage agents (20–25%). Understanding how they connect prevents fragmented study and helps you prioritize integration, which accounts for almost half of the exam.

1

Plan and configure agent solutions (30–35%)

This domain covers enterprise integrations, identity, channels, deployment, responsible AI, security, governance and reuse. It also includes agent flows, human intervention, parameters, error handling, topics, prompts, generative answers, APIs, adaptive cards and variables.

The key is distinguishing design decisions from configuration tasks. A scenario may require a technically viable solution that also meets audience, governance and operational constraints.

2

Integrate and extend agents (40–45%)

The largest domain includes Copilot and Power Platform connectors, Azure AI Search, computer use, MCP tools, custom connectors, REST APIs, Foundry, Fabric data agents and A2A collaboration.

Practice when to add knowledge versus a tool, how to authenticate an action, and when to delegate to a specialized agent instead of expanding one monolithic agent.

3

Test and manage agents (20–25%)

You must create test sets, choose evaluation methods and interpret results. The second part covers ALM through solutions, agent components, environment variables and Power Platform Pipelines.

Testing is more than checking whether an agent responds. Evaluate quality, safety, tool execution, error paths and behavior after knowledge or instruction changes.

4

How to allocate 100 study hours

A weighting-based plan gives 32 hours to planning and configuration, 43 to integration, and 25 to testing and management. Adapt it to your background: a REST developer may need more Copilot Studio time, while a maker may need more APIs, identity and agent protocols.

The official guide can change; CertifyDeck records its outline date and reviews coverage against Microsoft's source. To turn this breakdown into a schedule, follow the AB-620 study plan and practice by domain on the AB-620 page.

Frequently asked questions

How many domains does the AB-620 outline have?

Three: plan and configure agent solutions (30–35%), integrate and extend agents (40–45%) and test and manage agents (20–25%).

How much does MCP weigh in AB-620?

MCP sits inside the integration domain (40–45%) alongside connectors, Azure AI Search, REST APIs, Foundry, Fabric and A2A. It has no separate percentage, but it appears across several scenarios in that block.

How often does the AB-620 outline change?

Microsoft reviews study guides periodically. Check the last-updated date on the official page before booking; CertifyDeck shows the outline date it uses on each certification page.
