Solution architects with advanced experience in IT operations: networking, virtualization, identity, security, business continuity, data platforms and governance. Earning Azure Solutions Architect Expert also requires the Azure Administrator Associate certification (AZ-104).
AZ-305 (Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions) is the exam for the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. It does not ask how to configure a service but which one you would recommend: each question is a scenario with availability, recovery, cost, security or compliance requirements, and only one option meets all of them.
The outline has four blocks: identity, governance and monitoring (25–30%), data storage (20–25%), business continuity (15–20%) and infrastructure, which covers compute, application architecture, migrations and networking (30–35%). Earning the certification also requires Azure Administrator Associate; you can prepare it with [AZ-104](/certifications/az-104).
Choosing between similar options and justifying it: Azure SQL Database versus SQL Managed Instance, availability zones versus paired regions, Service Bus versus Event Grid, Front Door versus Application Gateway, VPN versus ExpressRoute, Azure Backup versus Site Recovery. Also structuring management groups and subscriptions, governing with Azure Policy and designing identity with Microsoft Entra.
The exam's references are the Azure Well-Architected Framework and the Cloud Adoption Framework. Read the decision guides in the Azure Architecture Center: many questions are, underneath, one of those decision trees with a requirement that rules out the obvious option.
If you administer Azure and already hold AZ-104, plan four to six weeks. Start with a diagnostic test, spend more time on the infrastructure block, which is the largest, and read each scenario twice: the requirement that decides the answer is usually in a single sentence.

It is expert level. It does not require memorizing commands, but you must compare services and pick the one that meets every requirement in a scenario. Experience administering Azure helps a lot.
You can sit AZ-305 at any time, but the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is only awarded if you also hold Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).
Microsoft associate and expert certifications expire after a year and are renewed free with an online assessment on Microsoft Learn.

No. They are original questions based on Microsoft's public objectives and documentation; we do not use leaked exam content.
Microsoft sets the price per country. USD 165 list price (varies by country; confirm on Pearson VUE when booking). CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start for free and full access is a one-off fee per certification.
Microsoft does not publish an exact number; its exams usually have between 40 and 60 questions. Our timed mock exam mirrors that length and the official domain weights.
You need a scaled score of 700 out of 1000. The scale does not map to a fixed percentage of correct answers, so aim for consistent results above 80% on unseen mock exams before booking.
Yes. Microsoft offers AZ-305 in Spanish as well as English. On CertifyDeck every question, option and explanation is available in both languages, keeping the official English terminology.
It is a good free starting point, but it is short and repeats the same items. A practice test with hundreds of original Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert questions, timed mock exams and practice by domain tells you where you fail and whether you keep the level under time pressure.
