Google Cloud
Professional Cloud Architect validates that you can design, develop and manage robust, secure, scalable, efficient and cost-effective solutions on Google Cloud: design and plan the architecture (business and technical requirements, networking, storage, compute, AI and ML, migration plans), provision and manage the infrastructure (network topologies, storage and compute systems, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform), design for security and compliance, analyze and optimize technical and business processes, manage implementation (deployment, Apigee, testing, gcloud, Terraform) and ensure operational excellence and reliability under the Google Cloud Well-Architected Framework.

Your company serves a latency-sensitive trading dashboard from a single Google Cloud region to users on several continents. Users far from the region report slow and inconsistent response times. The business prioritizes network performance over network cost, and regulations do not allow the backend to move to other regions. What should you recommend for the load balancer's external IP address?

Solution architects with experience in enterprise cloud strategy, solution design, workload migration, deployment and optimization, familiar with open-source technologies and multitiered distributed applications across hybrid and multicloud environments. Google recommends over three years of industry experience and over one year designing and managing solutions on Google Cloud. No prerequisites.
Professional Cloud Architect is Google Cloud's architecture certification. It checks that you can design, develop and manage robust, secure, scalable, efficient and cost-effective solutions that drive business objectives, applying the Google Cloud Well-Architected Framework (operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, cost and sustainability).
The exam guide has six sections: designing and planning a cloud solution architecture (25%), managing and provisioning the infrastructure (17.5%), designing for security and compliance (17.5%), analyzing and optimizing technical and business processes (15%), managing implementation (12.5%) and ensuring solution and operations excellence (12.5%). It lasts 2 hours, has 50 to 60 questions and is offered in English and Japanese.
Design: business and technical requirements, high availability, backup and recovery, VPC networking (Shared VPC, peering, Private Service Connect, load balancers, Cloud Interconnect and Cloud VPN), choosing storage and databases (Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, Bigtable, Firestore, BigQuery), compute (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Run functions, VMware Engine), AI solutions (Gemini, Agent Builder, Model Garden, AI Hypercomputer) and migration plans with Migration Center.
Security and compliance: IAM and the resource hierarchy, Cloud KMS, VPC Service Controls, organization policies, Identity-Aware Proxy, Workload Identity Federation, software supply chain, Model Armor and Sensitive Data Protection, auditing and regulation. Processes and implementation: SDLC, CI/CD with Cloud Build and Cloud Deploy, disaster recovery, Apigee, testing, gcloud, Terraform and emulators. Operations: Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Trace and Profiler, alerting, SLOs, release management and production reliability.
Google recommends over three years of industry experience and over one year designing solutions on Google Cloud. With that base, six to eight weeks is usually enough: read the official exam guide, review the Well-Architected Framework and the Architecture Center, and practise scenarios until you can spot which requirement rules out each option (data residency, cost, regional availability, least privilege, operational overhead).
