Your company uses GitHub Team. Release tags in a private repository follow the pattern v*. Only members of the release-managers team must be able to delete or rename those tags, and developers must still be able to manage other tags. What should you configure?

DevOps engineers with experience administering and developing on Azure and hands-on practice with GitHub and Azure DevOps. The certification requires holding AZ-104 or AZ-204.
AZ-400 (Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert) checks that you can design and implement continuous delivery processes with GitHub and Azure DevOps: flow of work, source control, pipelines, testing, deployments, infrastructure as code, security and monitoring. It is an expert-level exam that requires holding AZ-104 or AZ-204 first.
The outline in force since 27 July 2026 has five areas: processes and communications (10-15%), source control strategy (10-15%), build and release pipelines (50-55%), security and compliance plan (10-15%) and instrumentation strategy (5-10%). More than half of the exam is pipelines.
Processes and code: GitHub Flow, Azure Boards and GitHub Projects, flow metrics such as lead time and time to recovery, wikis with Markdown and Mermaid, webhooks; branching strategies, branch policies and protection rules, Git LFS, Scalar, permissions, tags and recovering or removing data with Git commands.
Pipelines and operations: GitHub Packages and Azure Artifacts, SemVer and CalVer, quality gates, tests and code coverage, Azure Pipelines and GitHub Actions YAML, agents and runners, templates and variable groups, environments with approvals, blue-green, canary and feature-flag strategies, Bicep, ARM and Azure Deployment Environments; managed identities and workload identity federation, Key Vault, GitHub Advanced Security, Defender for Cloud, Dependabot and CodeQL; and Azure Monitor, Application Insights and KQL.
If you already work with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, four to six weeks are usually enough; practise in whichever tool you use less, because the outline requires both. Follow the Microsoft Learn path for AZ-400 and write real YAML pipelines: code questions are easier once you have typed it yourself.
Start free to check your level and practise by area, paying special attention to pipelines, which carry more than half the weight. CertifyDeck questions follow the exam format: single and multiple choice, yes/no hotspots and drag and drop, each with a scenario and a requirement.

CertifyDeck is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft. AZ-400 and its related marks belong to their respective owner.
It lasts 100 minutes and, as with other Microsoft exams, the exact number of questions is not published: usually between 40 and 60, including case studies. Our mock exam uses 50 questions in 100 minutes.
You pass with 700 points out of 1,000.
You must pass AZ-400 and also hold Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204). Check the current requirement on Microsoft Learn, since AZ-204 retired in July 2026.
The fee depends on the country; in the United States it is USD 165. CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start for free and full access is a one-off fee.
Microsoft updated the areas and their weights: build and release pipelines now carry 50-55%, and the outline explicitly names GitHub Flow, GitHub Projects, Azure Deployment Environments, workload identity federation, GitHub Advanced Security for Azure DevOps and Microsoft Defender for Cloud DevOps Security. Our bank follows the outline of 27 July 2026.
