AI-500 (Multi-Agent AI Solutions Expert) validates that you can design, build and operate production-ready multi-agent AI systems on Azure: logical architecture of workflows, agents and tools; development with Microsoft Foundry, the Microsoft Agent Framework, protocols such as MCP and A2A, memory, context and RAG; evaluation, optimization and monitoring with traces and metrics; and security, governance and deployment with per-agent identities, Zero Trust and responsible AI controls. A new exam, available since October 2026 and English only.

A Foundry agent at Kelderwood Freight runs every night with no user present and writes reconciliation files to Azure Storage under its own authority. Access must be governed only by the role assignments of the agent. Which authentication scenario should you specify?

Expert-level practitioners who design and build scalable multi-agent systems on Azure and work with developers, ML engineers, platform engineers and data scientists. The certification also requires holding AI-103 (Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate).
AI-500 (Microsoft Certified: Multi-Agent AI Solutions Expert) is the expert-level exam for people who design, build and operate production-ready multi-agent AI systems on Azure. It is new: generally available since October 2026, English only, and the certification also requires holding AI-103.
The study guide has four areas: architecting multi-agent solutions (15-20%), developing them in Azure (30-35%), evaluating, optimizing and monitoring them (20-25%) and securing, governing and deploying them (20-25%).
Architecture: decomposing goals into workflows, agents and tools; personas, scopes and autonomy levels; agent-to-agent protocols; short- and long-term memory; Zero Trust, state persistence, compute and observability components. Development: advanced prompt engineering, context management and multi-agent RAG, function calling and MCP servers with Azure Functions, Logic Apps and API Management, orchestration patterns (hub-and-spoke, sequential, parallel, orchestrator-subagent), human in the loop, caching and scaling, A2A, Agent Framework, LangChain and LangGraph.
Operations: evaluations and human review in Foundry, LLM-as-a-judge, diagnosing context-window issues, tracing with correlation IDs, token and cost control; security with identities, RBAC, OAuth 2.0 and on-behalf-of, Key Vault, the AI Red Teaming Agent and guardrails; and deployment with DTAP, blue/green, canary, testing and CI/CD with infrastructure as code.
If you already build agents with Microsoft Foundry and hold AI-103, four to six weeks is usually enough. Follow the Microsoft Learn path for AI-500 and build a small system with two or three agents, an MCP server and tracing in Foundry: architecture questions are easier once you have made those decisions yourself.

The fee depends on the country; in the United States Microsoft expert-level exams cost USD 165. CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start free and full access is a one-off payment.
No. For now Microsoft offers it in English only. On CertifyDeck every question and explanation is available in both English and Spanish.
Besides passing AI-500, Microsoft requires the Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate certification (AI-103). If you do not hold it yet, prepare it first.
One year. It renews free of charge with an online assessment on Microsoft Learn during the six months before it expires.
No. They are original questions written from the official study guide and the public Microsoft Foundry and Azure documentation; we do not use leaked content.
Yes. You can start for free with no sign-up or card: AI-500 practice questions with explanations, a free online test by domain and published sample questions with answers. Full access to the whole bank and the timed mock exam is a one-off payment.
It is a good free starting point, but it is short and repeats the same items. A practice test with hundreds of original Microsoft Certified: Multi-Agent AI Solutions Expert questions, timed mock exams and practice by domain tells you where you fail and whether you keep the level under time pressure.
