GH-700 (Enhancing Operational Efficiency with Agentic AI) is the exam for the GitHub Certified: Agentic AI Business Professional certification, which validates that you can use GitHub and GitHub Copilot to design, automate and optimize business workflows with governance and human oversight. It covers GitHub policies and governance, managing work with projects, issues and pull requests, chatting with GitHub Copilot and building custom agents, designing and implementing agentic workflows and automations with skills and MCP servers, and the decisions to review, approve, escalate and stop. It is provided by Microsoft and maintained by GitHub. This is a beta outline (study guide last updated 13 October 2026); the bank will be reviewed when the exam leaves beta.

Product managers, program managers, technical project managers and business analysts who use GitHub and GitHub Copilot to improve the quality, speed and scale of their work, without needing deep software development experience. Microsoft expects some experience with generative AI and with managing projects, products or processes; it lists no required prior certification.
GH-700 (Exam GH-700: Enhancing Operational Efficiency with Agentic AI) is the exam for the GitHub Certified: Agentic AI Business Professional certification. It validates that you can use GitHub and GitHub Copilot to design, automate and optimize business workflows, with governance and human oversight. It is not a developer exam: it is aimed at product managers, program managers, technical project managers and business analysts, and it does not require deep coding experience. It is provided by Microsoft and maintained by GitHub. It has been in beta since 20 October 2026, in English only, and general availability is expected in December 2026.
The beta outline, in the study guide last updated on 13 October 2026, has four areas: use GitHub platform features (20–25%), enhance productivity by using GitHub Copilot (20–25%), design and implement agentic workflows and automations (25–30%), and perform human-in-the-loop tasks for agentic workflows (20–25%). The last two, both centred on agentic workflows, make up about half of the exam.
Platform and Copilot: budget guardrails and token usage, secrets management, governance, privacy and risk controls, Responsible AI, branch strategies and policies, how each model affects output and explainability, what sets skills, prompts and instructions apart, and when an MCP server makes sense. Then GitHub Projects (templates, views, columns, automation, custom fields and access), issues, pull requests, linking items and wikis. With GitHub Copilot: choosing a model and an agent for the task, managing sessions, using @ mentions and slash commands such as /explain, /fix, /tests, /doc, /clear, /delete and /chronicle, defining the data and response structure in a prompt, reverting with checkpoints, and creating custom agents with guardrails.
Agentic workflows and oversight: identifying which use cases deserve an agentic workflow or an automation, decomposing them into processes and tasks, setting decision criteria and applying common design patterns; creating workflow files and configuring schedule, permissions, output, folders, instructions and self-critique loops; choosing triggers, prompts, models and tools in automations; installing, creating and calling skills and connecting MCP servers. And the human part: finding the critical decision points, choosing between interactive, plan and autopilot modes, designing escalation paths, approving, rejecting or requesting revisions, stepping into a running workflow, resolving failures, stopping it, and supervising its runs and outputs.
Microsoft lists no training of its own for GH-700 and, according to its exam experience page, you cannot consult Microsoft Learn during GitHub exams, so hands-on practice is what counts. Set up a test GitHub repository and project around a real process from your work, such as a weekly report or vendor onboarding: organize it with views, fields and issues, ask GitHub Copilot for outputs in a fixed format, and build a simple agentic workflow with limited permissions and an approval point. To strengthen your general Copilot skills look at [GH-300](/en/certifications/gh-300), which is more developer-oriented; if your work revolves around Microsoft 365 Copilot, [AB-730](/en/certifications/ab-730) or [AB-900](/en/certifications/ab-900) are a better fit.
Start free to measure your level and practise by area. The bank has more than 300 questions across the 4 domains and 60 skill points of the beta outline, built on business scenarios rather than code, and the mock exam uses 50 questions in 100 minutes, the real exam length. We will review it when the exam leaves beta and Microsoft publishes the final outline.

You have 100 minutes. Microsoft does not publish the number of questions for GH-700; it says most of its certification exams have 40 to 60 and that the number can vary. The exam is proctored and may include interactive components. Our mock exam uses 50 questions in 100 minutes.
You need 700 out of 1,000. In the beta you do not get your score at the end: Microsoft rescores the exam when it goes live. Its announcement says results come about 10 days after that, while the certification page says about eight weeks after the beta period ends. If you fail the beta, you cannot retake it until the exam is live.
The fee depends on the country or region where you take the exam, and the official page does not publish a USD figure: check it when you book with Pearson VUE. During the beta, the first 300 candidates who take the exam on or before 9 November 2026 get 80% off, according to Microsoft's announcement (not available in Turkey, Pakistan, India or China). CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start free and full access is a one-time payment.
English only for now; if English is not your first language, the study guide says you can request 30 extra minutes. On CertifyDeck every question and explanation is available in English and Spanish.
Microsoft lists no required prior certification and deep coding experience is not needed. It expects some experience with generative AI, having managed projects, products or processes, and making or influencing decisions about quality, speed, risk and control. You should also know the differences between GitHub Copilot Chat on github.com, GitHub Copilot App and GitHub Copilot CLI, and between GitHub Copilot cloud agents and custom agents.
It may: it has been in beta since 20 October 2026, general availability is expected in December, and betas exist to evaluate the quality of the questions and the exam. Our bank follows the beta outline in the study guide last updated on 13 October 2026 and will be reviewed when the exam leaves beta. The GH-700 page does not say. The study guide carries Microsoft's general note: associate, expert and specialty certifications expire annually and renew through a free online assessment on Microsoft Learn. The GH-300 page, however, says GitHub certifications are valid for 2 years and that GitHub is moving to Microsoft's recertification process. Check the official page when you take the exam.
