AI-200 (Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate) is the exam that replaces AZ-204 for back-end developers. It validates that you can build and operate AI solutions on Azure: package and deploy containers with Azure Container Registry, App Service, Azure Container Apps (with KEDA scaling) and AKS; develop on Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL with pgvector and Azure Managed Redis, including embeddings, vector search, the RAG pattern and the change feed; connect services with Azure Service Bus, Event Grid and Azure Functions; and secure, monitor and troubleshoot with Key Vault, App Configuration, OpenTelemetry and KQL queries. Skills outline of 7 October 2026.

You run a Bash script in Azure Cloud Shell that must sign in to registry myreg with helm registry login by using your own Microsoft Entra identity. Cloud Shell provides the Docker CLI but doesn't run the Docker daemon, no other container tool is installed, and az acr login fails. What should you do?

Developers who take part in every phase of an AI solution on Azure, with an emphasis on back-end services: Azure SDKs, data services, messaging and eventing, vector databases, Python and containerized applications. No prerequisite certification.
AI-200 (Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate) is the exam Microsoft proposes to back-end developers after AZ-204 retired in July 2026. It checks that you can build and operate AI solutions on Azure: package and deploy containers, work with the data services (including vector search), connect services with messaging and events, and secure, monitor and troubleshoot what you deploy.
The outline of 7 October 2026 has four areas: develop containerized solutions (20–25%), develop AI solutions with Azure data management services (30–35%), connect to and consume Azure services (20–25%) and secure, monitor and troubleshoot Azure solutions (20–25%). The exam lasts 120 minutes.
Containers: Azure Container Registry and ACR Tasks, App Service for containers with environment variables and secrets, Azure Container Apps (environments, revisions, KEDA scaling) and AKS with manifests, logs and events. Data: Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL (SDK, queries, indexing policies, consistency levels, RUs, embeddings and vector search, change feed), Azure Database for PostgreSQL with pgvector (schemas, indexes, sizing, RAG with metadata filters, connection optimization) and Azure Managed Redis (caching, expiration, invalidation, vector indexes).
Integration: Azure Service Bus (queues, topics, subscriptions, dead-letter queues), Azure Event Grid (filters, custom events, retries) and Azure Functions (triggers, bindings, configuration and deployment). Security and operations: Azure Key Vault (secret rotation and retrieval), Azure App Configuration, distributed tracing with the OpenTelemetry SDKs and KQL queries over logs and metrics. Many questions include Python or C# code fragments.
If you come from AZ-204 or develop on Azure daily, three to five weeks is usually enough: follow the Microsoft Learn path for AI-200 and build a small project with an API on Container Apps, Cosmos DB or PostgreSQL with pgvector, a Service Bus queue and traces in Application Insights. Configuration and code questions are easier once you have done it once.

Microsoft states 120 minutes for the exam. Microsoft role-based exams have 40 to 60 questions. Our mock exam uses 50 questions in 120 minutes.
700 out of 1,000, like every Microsoft certification exam.
The fee depends on the country; in the United States Microsoft associate-level exams cost 165 USD. CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start free and full access is a one-time payment.
Yes. AZ-204 (Azure Developer Associate) retired on 31 July 2026 and AI-200 is the path Microsoft proposes for back-end developers. The focus shifts: less service catalogue, more vector data, RAG, containers and observability.

Yes. You can start for free with no sign-up or card: AI-200 practice questions with explanations, a free online test by domain and published sample questions with answers. Full access to the whole bank and the timed mock exam is a one-off payment.
It is a good free starting point, but it is short and repeats the same items. A practice test with hundreds of original Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate questions, timed mock exams and practice by domain tells you where you fail and whether you keep the level under time pressure.
