People starting out in cloud or working alongside AWS teams: business, sales, support, project management or IT roles. AWS recommends up to six months of exposure to AWS; no coding or architecture design is required.
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) is the AWS entry-level certification. It checks that you understand what the AWS Cloud offers, how security is shared between AWS and the customer, what each core service is for and how you pay for it. There is no coding, architecture design or troubleshooting.
The outline has four domains: cloud concepts (24%), security and compliance (30%), cloud technology and services (34%), and billing, pricing and support (12%).
Concepts: benefits of the cloud, the pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, migration strategies and cloud economics. Security: the shared responsibility model, IAM (users, groups, roles, policies, MFA and the root user), and services such as AWS Shield, AWS WAF, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector and AWS Artifact.
Services: Regions, Availability Zones and edge locations; compute (Amazon EC2, AWS Lambda, containers), databases, networking (Amazon VPC, Route 53, CloudFront) and storage (Amazon S3 and its classes, EBS, EFS). Cost: EC2 purchasing options, AWS Budgets, Cost Explorer, AWS Organizations and the AWS Support plans.
With no prior experience, three to four weeks is usually enough. Start with the official exam guide, which lists the services that are in and out of scope, and spend most of your time on security and services: together they are almost two thirds of the score.

CertifyDeck is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by AWS. CLF-C02 and its related marks belong to their respective owner.
It lasts 90 minutes and has 65 questions, of which 50 are scored and 15 are not. AWS does not identify the unscored ones.
Scores range from 100 to 1,000 and the minimum passing score is 700. Scoring is compensatory: you only need to pass the exam overall, not each domain.
The official fee is USD 100, plus any taxes and currency conversion. CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start for free and full access is a one-off fee.
