AWS Certified Developer - Associate (DVA-C02) validates that you can develop, test, deploy and debug applications on AWS: architecture patterns and resilient code, Lambda and data services such as DynamoDB, authentication and authorization with IAM and Cognito, encryption and secrets management, packaging and deployment with SAM, CloudFormation and the CI/CD services, and root cause analysis with CloudWatch and X-Ray.

A mobile application must let users upload photos directly to an Amazon S3 bucket. The users must not receive any AWS credentials, and the photo files must not pass through the application's backend. The backend runs as an AWS Lambda function. Which solution will meet these requirements?

Developers with at least a year of experience building and maintaining applications on AWS and proficiency in a high-level programming language.
AWS Certified Developer - Associate (DVA-C02) checks that you can develop, test, deploy and debug applications on AWS. The questions describe what a developer does: choosing the right service, API or pattern, configuring Lambda or DynamoDB, protecting credentials, deploying with CI/CD or reading an error.
The outline has four domains: development with AWS services (32%), security (26%), deployment (24%) and troubleshooting and optimization (18%).
Development: architecture patterns (events, microservices, fan-out), resilient code with retries, APIs with API Gateway, SDKs and CLI, Lambda (environment variables, layers, destinations, concurrency), SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Kinesis and DynamoDB (partition keys, consistency, indexes, DAX). Security: IAM, roles and STS, Cognito, KMS, encryption at rest and in transit, Secrets Manager and Parameter Store.
Deployment: SAM, CloudFormation and CDK, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy and CodePipeline, deployment strategies and automated testing. Operations: CloudWatch (logs, metrics, alarms), X-Ray, CloudTrail, root cause analysis and performance and cost optimization.
AWS recommends a year of experience developing on AWS. If you already hold SAA-C03 or CLF-C02, what is new is the detail of Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Cognito and the CI/CD chain. Practice until you can spot which requirement rules out each option.

CertifyDeck is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by AWS. DVA-C02 and its related marks belong to their respective owner.
It lasts 130 minutes and has 65 questions, of which 50 are scored and 15 are not. AWS does not identify the unscored ones.
Scores range from 100 to 1,000 and the minimum passing score is 720. Scoring is compensatory: you do not need to pass each domain separately.
The official fee is USD 150, plus any taxes and currency conversion. CertifyDeck does not sell the exam, only the preparation: you can start for free and full access is a one-off fee.
The exam does not ask you to write whole programs, but you must understand code fragments, SDK calls, CLI commands and SAM or CloudFormation templates. AWS recommends proficiency in at least one high-level language.
